Summer is right around the corner and it is time to get your swamp cooler ready. Today we are going to go over some steps that you should take before the temperature rises! Remember that being prepared will help keep your home or business cool during extreme heat.

Clean The Outside

As a swamp cooler maintenance & repair service company, we recommend the first thing you should do is clean the outside of your swamp cooler. If your swamp cooler has been covered up during the winter months, mildew has likely formed on the outside of the unit.

A great way to get rid of mildew is by washing the unit with soapy water. Take a 5-gallon bucket and add in some dish soap. Fill the bucket with water and use a sponge or a cloth and wipe down the outside of the unit. This will remove any mildew and make your unit look new again.

Additionally, you will have to clean and wipe down the internal water tank. On the other hand, if you would like us to handle the dirty work for you, we would be happy to do so! We offer swamp cooler clean ups at affordable rates. Now we will move on to the next step in the process.

Installing and Maintaining The Pads

After your swamp cooler has been cleaned on the outside, we will have to take a look at the pads. In most cases, your pads will be dirty from previous use. If the pads are dirty or damage in any way, we recommend that you have them changed. This will help you be prepared for the upcoming warm weather. New pads will also help keep the air quality in your home safe for the entire family.

Checking The Water Line

Next, we will test the water line running to your swamp cooler. We will look for any leaks and fix them for you. This part of the process is very important because even a small leak could cause major water damage to your home. If we do find that you need to replace your water line, we will give you an estimate of the cost before we start the job.

Replace The Water Pump

After we have serviced your swamp cooler, we may find that you need a new water pump. Water pump replacement may be necessary for your unit to work properly and cool your home or office. This job will probably only take a few hours, and we will have your swamp cooler working smoothly again.
